Happy Birthday To The Veteran Actor, ADERUPOKO. Chief Kayode Olaiya.

Chief Kayode Olaiya a.k.a Aderupoko was born on March 4th, and grew up in Ibadan. He attended St. Sephrian Priamary School and Ratibi Primary School, both in Oluyoro Oke-Ofa, Ibadan. He had his Secondary Education at Goodwill Grammar School, Adekile, Ibadan.
His foundation for costume building was laid when he learnt sewing and clothes designs. Much later, he obtained a diploma at Obafemi Awolowo University in a theatre course.
He began his acting career with WNTV which was established in Ibadan in 1959. He joined the station in 1966 with a storytelling programme. Initially, there was no recording of programmes.
Aderupoko became famous under the Ajimajasan Group, along with his sidekicks, Jacob and Papalolo.
The trio of Papalolo, Jacob and Aderupoko are credited with leading the advancement of comedy in Nigeria in the 1970s and 80s. They were one of the first Nigerian Comedians to release their material as albums on vinyl. Notable of which is the hilarious comedy sketch 'Pa Jacob Is Ku'. Plays on Nigerian TV included the very successful comedy Owo Tabua (Plenty Money), which was syndicated on NTA, Ibadan, Lagos Television (LTV 8) and Ogun State Television, OGTV, Abeokuta.

Aderupoko is one man whose name must be mentioned whenever the success of the Yoruba movie is being discussed. He is one of the veterans, who have immensely sacrificed and contributed to the growth of the industry, having started acting at a very tender age as a pupil. He was introduced to acting through story telling programme on television back then when there was nothing like the recorded programme, but a live display with what they called hard rehearsals then.

Even as an actor then, it never came easily as there was nothing like camera effects. And this man and other veterans as him scaled through that period as an actor and are still participating and very relevant despite the improvement in technology. Aderupoko has featured and produced uncountable films and people can’t forget his excellent delivery in flicks such as  "Agogo Ewo", "T'oluwa Nile". Etc.

Happy Birthday To The Veteran Actor, ADERUPOKO.
