TOLULOPE AROTILE, THE NIGERIA'S FIRST FEMALE COMBAT HELICOPTER PILOT IS FINALLY LAID TO REST TODAY.

Today, the iconic, heroine Tolu Arotiole has been laid to rest amidst tears. It was a mournful event as the first female combat pilot finally move to the world beyond. The late Arotile was decorated on 15 October 2019 as the first female combat helicopter pilot in Nigerian Air Force.

The late flying officer had allegedly died from a head injury she sustained from a road accident, when she was allegedly hit by a car driven by her ex-classmate within the NAF base in Kaduna.
Tope Arotile was a native of Iffe in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State and had only recently completed a programme at the Starlite International Training Academy, South Africa, before her untimely death.

In the immediate aftermath of her death, a statement credited to the NAF revealed that the late officer had made immense contributions to the efforts to rid the North Central States of armed bandits and other criminals by flying several combat missions under Operation GAMA AIKI in Minna, Niger State.
Following her death, there were calls from many quarters for her death to be investigated. Also, many people condoled with her family and testimonies from people closed to her revealed that she was a good patriot who fought for Nigeria until her dying breathe. And today is the day she is being laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Abuja. See pictures of the fallen heroin.
